Relationships in any business is critical. Even though , you have to give the illusion that you are too busy to be meeting every customer, their is no one like the owner to translate the passion of your product. Had a Tasting last night and sold over 13 bottles in a Liquor Store. The owner , looked at me and stated Im not sure if it is the girl or you who are pushing the product. The answer was obvious , it was me. But Why?
I dont want to believe that Im that much better then my sales force. Are they properly trained? Do they know the product enough? Do they lack the fire to talk to customer about the product?
The first 2 questions go back to me. Do I have to retrain them? Lets go over the products that we are selling. The other question relies totally on incentive and passion. How to instill passion is the tricky part.
The one advice I can give the reader is dont ever do a tasting of more then one product at the same time. You are competing with yourself and the customer doesnt buy. Focus on one product. Know it well. Sell it well, blend it well. Make sure that at the end of the conversation you ask them to purchase 2 bottles , one for themselves and one for a friend.
